eCert Launches E-mail Security Protection for U.S. Financial Institutions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Program Rolling Out With FS-ISAC and BITS/Financial Services Roundtable Members to Strengthen E-mail Security for U.S. Banks, Credit Unions

September 22, 2010 - Washington, D.C. – E-mail security leader eCert, Inc. today announced a pilot program to provide e-mail protection for selected members of financial industry consortiums, the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and BITS, the technology policy division of the Financial Services Roundtable. As many as 25 members of FS-ISAC and BITS, which includes top U.S. banks and credit unions, will join eCert’s Trusted E-mail Registry Service to help keep consumers’ e-mail safe from phishing attacks and other e-mail fraud. A full rollout to all of the hundreds of members of FS-ISAC and BITS/Roundtable is anticipated in the coming months.

“The pilot of eCert’s Trusted E-mail Registry Service represents an important milestone in securing the e-mail channel for financial institutions,” said Leigh Williams, BITS President. “We are proud that through partnering with the FS-ISAC and eCert, we are able to provide access to these critical new capabilities as part of our ongoing commitment to help our members fight online fraud and protect consumers.”

The service for FS-ISAC and BITS/Roundtable members provides participants with access to a number of key features to help combat e-mail fraud, including: domain registration, a first-of-its-kind directory to facilitate cross channel communication and email policy treatment with other senders and receivers, and vital ISP feedback and e-mail traffic data to help monitor traffic and potential threats for member domains.

“eCert has been collaborating with FS-ISAC and BITS to design a turnkey service for financial institutions that improves security for e-mail,” said Kelly Wanser, CEO, eCert. “We are excited that U.S. banks and other financial institutions are now able to take advantage of these enhanced services to keep their customers safe from e-mail fraud and help to restore trust to online communications.”

eCert’s Trusted E-mail Registry Basic Service is included in membership to BITS/Roundtable and FS-ISAC and is based on the eCert E-mail Domain eCertification Service and the eCert Transport Layer Security (TLS) Registry Service.

BITS is the technology policy division of The Financial Services Roundtable (www.bits.org), which represents 100 of the largest financial services companies in the U.S. BITS focuses on strategic issues where industry cooperation serves the public good, such as critical infrastructure protection, fraud prevention, and the safety of financial services.

The Financial Services Information-Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC, www.fsisac.com) is the only industry forum for collaboration on critical security threats facing the financial services sector.
